Appledore Pudding

The new issue of Edible South Shore South Coast is at your local advertisers. If you do not know where to find them go to the web site and see list of advertisers or read online.
As always great articles but this one was really intriguing. Appledore Interlude by Paula Marcoux. Tells the history of this small island off the coast of New Hampshire and the present day use by Shoals Marine Lab. This trip was a meal using what was found on this mainly rock island and they did not disappoint. Very Creative. I decided to make the dessert because it looked interesting and it was. Appledore pudding. This pudding has cake,
blueberries, sherry, and  meringue . Go to the magazine if you feel the urge to make this delicious dessert and read the other great articles.

Cranberries and Dahlias

Homesteading light
November 22, 2019

Homesteading lite, ( preserving local food, eating local , and other farmy things) Today, Saturday. My list includes cleaning and a few things to start for Thanksgiving. Now like any real homesteader i go to attic for canning jars so i can make some cranberry sauce with some of the cranberries delivered by my local bog owner. Realize when i enter the attic the Daliha bulbs are still drying from a few weeks ago. I think it should of only been a few days, a new  endeavor for me. Guess i will get a box of sand and pack them in. It and transport them to the cool cellar for the winter. Hopefully they will make it. Walk into the Breezway and realized the jars of apple peelings sitting from October are still not strained. Two weeks a go the Jars smelled like hard cider, now a medicinal smell. I will strain this cloudy liquid into a jar and hope the vinegar experiment works. Now as i try to find enough lids for the jars of Cranberry sauce I realize if I am standing canning Cranberry Sauce at the stove I may as well do a batch of Christmas Peanut brittle while i am here anyways.
