Cranberries and Dahlias

Homesteading lite, ( preserving local food, eating local , and other farmy things) Today, Saturday. My list includes cleaning and a few things to start for Thanksgiving. Now like any real homesteader i go to attic for canning jars so i can make some cranberry sauce with some of the cranberries delivered by my local bog owner. Realize when i enter the attic the Daliha bulbs are still drying from a few weeks ago. I think it should of only been a few days, a new  endeavor for me. Guess i will get a box of sand and pack them in. It and transport them to the cool cellar for the winter. Hopefully they will make it. Walk into the Breezway and realized the jars of apple peelings sitting from October are still not strained. Two weeks a go the Jars smelled like hard cider, now a medicinal smell. I will strain this cloudy liquid into a jar and hope the vinegar experiment works. Now as i try to find enough lids for the jars of Cranberry sauce I realize if I am standing canning Cranberry Sauce at the stove I may as well do a batch of Christmas Peanut brittle while i am here anyways.
